Giveaway

In the spirit of getting ready for my new website to be launched (where I will be doing a lot more giveaways!), I thought I'd throw a giveaway out there today.
Because color has been inspiring me so much lately, I thought that I'd giveaway one of these limited edition lipsticks from J. Crew.

I also came across this article that talks a little bit more about how to pull off a bright lip for the summer.  Check it out!

************************************************************************
OK, here are the ways to be entered to win this giveaway...

1) Comment on this blog post about how you're feeling about bright lips this summer...is it a do or a don't for you?

2) From my Facebook page, share my blog post when I post it there (I can see who shares, and you'll be entered in the giveaway)

So, that's two chances to win, and opportunities for your friends to win as well if you share on FB and help spread the word :)

And, because I'm trying to get a wide readership to the blog, anyone is eligible to enter the giveaway, even if you're an international reader.

And one more thing, this giveaway will be open for a week, until next Wednesday, then I'll draw a winner and post it.  Once the winner is posted, please contact me with shipping information, if necessary.

And, last but not least, here is some red lip inspiration...

Makeover Monday: Photo Tutorial

Happy to be back with a Makeover Monday.  I've been wanting to use these colors forever.  I will be using gloMinerals' spring Limited Edition Floral Fantasy kit.  I currently have 2 of these in stock, though I'm pretty sure they're spoken for.  If anyone out there is interested in purchasing one, there are still 150 available from the company, and I will be taking up-front preorders for them at $65.
Cleo Eye Shadow Quad: All new colors sand, desert rose, kohl and indigo. Apply to eyes using appropriate brushes. Precise Micro Eyeliner:Micro Eyeliner tip applies pigment with pin-point precision to accentuate and define eyes. Perfect Lip Duo in bare: Apply the creamy lipstick to lips and then use gloss to enhance shine. Powder Cheek Stain: Easy-to-apply Powdered Cheek Stain. The long-lasting color of a stain with the application ease of a powdered blush! Apply with the Texture Brush to apples of the cheeks.

Today's Makeover Monday features Heather Weber.  She was in the mood for a new look, and I was itching to try these new products out on someone.
Her before...
I did some undereye concealing, eyelid priming, and blemish camouflaging, then applied pressed base foundation in golden medium.  Then, I started with the powder cheek stain.  This color looks a little intimidating.  I love it, though.  It's a dewey flushed pink look, and it's best applied with the texture brush (as shown).

To me, this look is cheek-centric, with the focus being on the pink, flushed cheeks, so that's why I started there and then built the rest of the look around the cheeks.
Next, I worked on the eye & brow area.  I first applied the lightest base color of the Cleo quad,

Then, I used the peach color to blend into the eye contour and lid area.  Next, I blended the taupey grey and the periwinkle blue together to swipe into the contour area and make a vee into the outer corner of the eye.

We filled in her brows with the eye liner/brow brush, and I used dark brown kona eyeshadow for the brow filler color.
And, next, I lined her eyes first with the brown precision liner included in the kit,
and I blended & smudged with the same eyeliner/brow brush that I used for her brows, but didn't even have to add more kona shadow.
Finished up with the perfect lip duo in bare.  I first applied the creamy lipstick end, and topped it off with the gloss.  This product is available separately from the kit, and it in stock at my shop.
And, her afters...

Thank you, Heather.  I think you look lovely & radiant!

**Giveaway**

Getting into the swing of things this summer now that school's out.  The good news is that my appointment calendar is getting booked up quickly.  The bad news is that my goal was to only work 4 days a week to get to spend some quality time with the fam.  I'm just going to go with it.  It will all be good.

I am working on getting more likes on my Facebook page, and am going to giveaway this Relax Candle (as shown below) when I reach 300 likes.  I'm only 15 away, so please go like my page for a chance to win this giveaway, and to make sure that you stay up to date with news, photos, & content.  I will be able to ship the candle (domestically) if you're not local and you win.

And, I'm still getting excited about the new website.  Trying to get lots of details worked out.  Thinking about the little things like cards, coupons, promotions, launch prizes & giveaways.  Lots of excitement coming up, so stay tuned!

hoarding creativity & inspiration

Just an update if anyone is out there reading that I am hoarding my creativity and inspiration for when my new website launches.  I don't really know when that will be, but I will be posting more irregularly and infrequently.  I know that's terrible.  I just am going to state for the record that I am a working mom, and I love summertime.  I am fortunate enough to be able to set my own schedule, so this summer, I am not going to stress about filling my appointment book at work, but slow down, enjoy the slower pace, breathe deeply, jump on the trampoline, swim a lot, train for my running & swimming in the triathlon, and enjoy my life!!

In general, I'm trying to take time to "smell the roses."  I have heard that creativity ebbs and flows, and for me it's ebbing right now.  I will be back soon, I promise.  In the meantime, HAPPY SUMMER!!  Eat a popsicle (or a whole box) for me!

Here's a link for the recipe for the scrumptious-looking popsicles.

All of my favorite features (makeover mondays, five on fridays) will return, I just can't promise when.  In the meantime, I will keep posting what is inspiring me, and any fun updates I have to share.  Thanks for reading!  Leave me a comment & let me know how you're spending your days this summer.  Do you have any special summer traditions or activities that you look forward to?
