Makeover Monday

The feature of today's Makeover Monday is Jamie Stover, reporter for WBOY Channel 12.
Here is her before...
Can I just say that I love that all of the Channel 12 reporters and anchors I've met and worked with so far have been so well-accessorized!  They all have the best jewelry and accessories.  They always look put-together and business professional.

Here are her afters...

I used neutral browns and copper for her eyeshadow, then a brighter blush on her cheeks, and I talked her into doing a brighter lipstick color for spring.

Thanks, Jamie!

March Product Spotlight

March will begin a  new monthly feature where I spotlight a great product that I carry in my shop.  This month, I am featuring Eminence Organics Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum.  This product is my best-selling product.  People are sort of addicted to it.  I refer to it as "the fountain of youth."  And, I've hardly ever met a skin type that couldn't use it.
Description: Refining & Revitalizing

Skin Type: All skin types especially dehydrated

Key Ingredients:
  • Strawberry: cleanser and astringent; contains Salicylic acid that gently exfoliates and removes impurities to brighten skin and shrink pores.
  • Rhubarb: astringent and disinfectant; healing and a good source of ascorbic acid and Vitamin C
  • Hyaluronic Acid (from marshmallow plant extract): deeply hydrating; natural substance that smooths and plumps skin to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Honey: moisturizing, nourishing; acts as a mild antiseptic
  • Aloe Vera: healer, moisturizer; calms irritated skin, works to alleviate the effects of UV radiation, hydrates and softens the skin
  • Biocomplex™: an antioxidant booster of Vitamins A, Ester C, E, Coenzyme Q10, Alpha Lipoic Acid; delivers a balanced mix of essential antioxidants and effectively combats free radicals
1oz/30ml dropper bottle

Some other information about this product is that hyaluronic acid is an extremely anti-aging ingredient that is naturally-occuring in the deeper layers of the skin, in between collagen & elastin fibers, and it can hold up to 1000x its weight in water.  Hyaluronic acid is what gives skin its spring & bounce.  So, we would all drink this stuff if we could. ;)

Another piece of info is that it's obvious this would do wonders for dry & dehydrated skin, but a lot of times, people who have oily skin actually have dehydrated skin, which would be lack of water in their skin.  Dehydrated/oily skin will actually over-product oil to compensate for the dehydration (lack of water).  So, this serum works great on oily skin too.

This product retails for $42, and for a limited time, when you purchase a bottle, you will also receive the cutest little reusable shopping bag that folds up into a drawstring strawberry that's small enough to fit inside your purse.  Sweet!

Makeover Monday

The feature of today's Makeover Monday is Kelly Rippin, Monongalia & Preston County Reporter and weekend anchor for WBOY Channel 12.  Kelly agreed to model so that I could do a wedding makeup makeover at a bridal expo.  I wanted to do something really dreamy, with lots of shimmer & reflection that would make her look glowing.  **PUBLIC DISCLAIMER**  Kelly is NOT getting married anytime soon.  :)

Here is her before...

And, here are her afters...

I used gloMinerals alloy eyes eyeshadow palette-a very versatile, must-have for smoky eyes,
glo's blush lipstick-for a light pink/nude creamy base on the lips,
then I dusted glo's 24kt sparkle dust in silver, for a glowing, dreamy shimmer.
Please contact me by e-mail or phone for more information about gloMinerals, a professional, full-line of pressed mineral makeup.

I have put together some information about doing on-site bridal & wedding party makeup.  If you're interested, please e-mail riversongspa@gmail.com

Thank you, Kelly, for being such a lovely model.  I had so much fun doing wedding makeup!

Makover Mondays

The feature of today's Makeover Monday is Katie Smith, sports anchor/reporter for WBOY.  Katie is a self-professed sports enthusiast, but that doesn't mean she doesn't love makeup tips as well.
Here's her before...
And here are some afters...

Katie wanted to accentuate her blue eyes, so we did a neutral shimmery taupe eye with black eyeliner.
It was a beautiful day outside, so we took advantage of some amazing natural light.

Thanks, Katie for being such a gracious model.  Next time, I think we should try a copper smoky eye ;)

Makeover Monday

Today's post starts a series featuring some beautiful ladies who work at Channel 12 News-WBOY.  I am so excited to showcase today's Makeover Mondays model, Stacy Jacobson.  Stacy is such a devoted news reporter, and she covers the news and the goings-on in Lewis County as if she grew up here.  She is always representing in the LC  ;)  Stacy has been a wonderful person to get to know.  She has been encouraging and compassionate to me as a start-up business owner.  She is completely dedicated to her work and is very professional and conscientious.  I really admire her personally and professionally.  She has helped build my confidence to promote my business this year, so thank you, Stacy!  I so appreciate it, and I am so glad we met.

Here's her before...

And, here are her afters...

I love that she wasn't afraid of color-in fact, she loves bright colors.  So, we had a lot of fun doing some purple eyeshadows, a cool pink blush, and then a really bright tulip pink lip.  I think she looks amazing.  Next, we are going to try a classic gray smoky eye with a nude lip...so stay tuned.
